Merriam-Webster defines renew as: 1: to make like new : restore to freshness, vigor, or perfection; 2: to make new spiritually: 3: to restore to existence; to make extensive changes in; 4: to do again; 5: to begin again. So this is a season of renewal for this page, and for each of us individually. One of the greatest revelations I have had is to know that every day I wake up is a day to do something different. Each day is a gift. I watched “13 Going on 30” tonight (one of my favorites and I am not ashamed to admit it) and realized that a redo of my life would be great in some areas, a second chance to do it better. To go down the road I didn’t take out of fear. But then I wouldn’t be where I am today, with an amazing husband and 3 fantastic and unique children and I wouldn’t have the family and friends that I have. What renewal gives me is hope. Hope that tomorrow I will make the difference in one person’s life. If we each did that, imagine the possibilities! When I watch that movie, it reminds me of the childlike wonder that we lose as we grow up. We let life get in the way of the simple things. So the challenge I leave you with is for myself as well. Tomorrow, make a difference. Go about your life and your job with a joy that you haven’t had before. If you truly can’t find it (joy) then perhaps you need to refer to definition 3 above.
